Members of the Commission and guests,
I am running for the Maryland House of Delegates because I want to help put our community and our state back on the right track. We face many challenges including a struggling economy and a looming structural budget deficit, but I feel I am well-suited to help solve these problems.
During my previous term in the legislature, I established a strong record of support for issues important to women, including supporting Jessica’s Law to protect children from sexual predators, establishing protections for women from stalkers, creating an address confidentiality program for victims of domestic violence, and promoting initiatives to benefit women-owned businesses.
On a personal note, I would like to tell you how my life has been impacted by two amazing women in particular. My mom balanced a successful career, raised four sons (who weren’t always angels) and was able to serve our community as an elected official. Now my wife continues to amaze me as she works full-time as a molecular biologist, is completing her Masters degree program at Hood, and is a wonderful mom and role model for our two daughters who I know will also grow up to be strong, successful women.
I thank you for this opportunity and ask for your vote on November 2nd.
